Design Maps Database
Curated and maintained by YoyoYoshi for awRev

Advance Wars Revolution (awRev) was originally an Advance Wars community active from 2005–07, featuring maps, walkthroughs, forums, and fan-created content, before being restored in 2026. Learn more about the site's history and restoration efforts on the About awRev page.

It currently features 1351 playable map entries: 70 original awRev maps and 1281 recovered AWN maps.

The collection preserves maps from awRev's original community while also restoring content from the historic AWN Design Maps archive, bringing together the map-making legacies of two major Advance Wars communities from the franchise's peak era.

Together, these collections represent thousands of hours of community map design, competitive experimentation, campaigns, and creative work spanning multiple generations of Advance Wars fans.

Maps are organized by gameplay category with restored metadata, images, creator attribution, and contributor profile links.

History, Credits, and Restoration

AWN Design Maps was originally created by Kamek and later maintained by The Sleeping Leg and Roma_emu. YoyoYoshi also served as an AWN Design Maps moderator, helping review and approve map submissions during the original community era.

The original awRev Design Maps section was created by Syzygy and served the awRev community during the site's original 2005–07 lifespan.

As websites, hosting, and archives disappeared over time, much of that shared map history became fragmented or inaccessible. This unified database was later restored and rebuilt by YoyoYoshi, including restored map recovery, metadata reconstruction, image matching, contributor attribution, and relational system design supporting both preservation and future community expansion.

Advance Wars Map Editor (AWS)

Built by Roma_emu, AWS (Advance Wars Map Editor) helped make large-scale online Advance Wars map creation and sharing possible across communities like AWN and awRev.

Over time, thousands of player-created maps, strategies, experiments, and competitive ideas circulated through the system.

Works on Windows and Linux. Setup instructions are in the ReadMe.txt.

Latest version: AWS 1.0 (August 16, 2007)
